Realizing a recycling-oriented society
Basic Concept
Toward the realization of a recycling-oriented society that coexists with nature, we are promoting efforts such as reducing water and waste and making effective use of resources. In particular, to reduce waste and water usage, which are social issues, we have set consolidated targets based on total volume and per unit of production, and are working to reduce environmental impact by implementing a PDCA cycle, while also working to improve recycling rates. We are striving to improve supply chain management through collaboration between upstream and downstream parties, including business partners, with the aim of building a recycling-oriented society.
Promoting effective use of resources and the 3Rs of waste
In addition to complying with environmental laws and regulations, we are promoting recycling by understanding the environmental impact of our business activities, such as pollution and waste generation, and are also working to reduce water intake in response to increasing water risks.
Toward the realization of a circular society, we are contributing to global environmental protection efforts by starting "horizontal recycling" in April 2024, which will recycle approximately 60 tons (fiscal 2024 results) of used PET bottles discarded from Nankai Namba Station and our surrounding facilities (Namba City, Namba Parks, NAMBA SkyO, etc.) into new PET bottles. Horizontal recycling reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 40% compared to manufacturing new PET bottles.

water management
As water risks increase due to factors such as water shortages and abnormal weather caused by climate change, and increased water usage due to population growth and economic development, we are identifying various water risks and taking measures to address them.We have established a water management system, are reducing water intake and usage as much as possible, and are working to prevent the discharge of pollutants.
Regarding water usage, we are reducing the amount of water used by the city by using rainwater at Izumiotsu Station and Platt Platt, as well as groundwater such as well water, and promoting the use of reprocessed water from industrial and utility water. In addition, Namba Parks has installed a water purification facility underground, and the clear, colorless water that has been treated and sterilized using microorganisms and activated carbon is used for flushing toilets and watering plants.
The water withdrawal volume for the Group (consolidated) in fiscal 2024 will be 1,399,000 m3, a decrease compared to the previous fiscal year, and the water withdrawal intensity has been reduced by 5% compared to fiscal 2019. We are working to expand the scope of our management, and have been disclosing the water withdrawal volume for the entire consolidated group since fiscal 2018, and the breakdown by water source since fiscal 2021.
To counter the risk of flooding and tsunamis, we are promoting continuous overpass constructions and bridge safety measures.
