1. Approach to the “protection of personal information”

Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) considers the protection of personal information to be an important duty and has therefore established this Privacy Policy.
For the purpose of smoothly performing the Company’s business, we collect and use the personal information of our customers, business partners and other persons such as their name, address, telephone number and email address (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”).
In order to protect such Personal Information, the Company will conduct business activities based on the following guidelines:

    We will appropriately handle Personal Information in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws and ordinances as well as the matters we are required to observe pursuant to the Guidelines for the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Volume on General Rules) and other guidelines established by the government.

    2.

    We will obtain Personal Information by lawful and appropriate means and use it properly.

    3.

    We will clarify and appropriately manage the Personal Information management system.

    4.

    We will clarify the procedures for handling Personal Information and fully inform our employees of the procedures.

    5.

    We will manage and supervise outsourcing providers to ensure that they handle Personal Information appropriately.

    6.

    When collecting Personal Information, we will specify and notify or publicly announce the purpose of use and handle it in accordance with such purpose of use.

    7.

    The relevant person or his/her agent may make a request to our prescribed contact for the disclosure, correction, deletion or suspension of use of its Personal Information held by the Company, and such requests will be handled in accordance with laws and ordinances.

2. Matters related to security control measures

The Company will implement necessary and appropriate security control measures to prevent any leakage, loss, damage, etc. of the personal data handled by the Company and manage such personal data.
The Company will also perform necessary and appropriate supervision of employees and outsourcing providers who handle the personal data.
Security control measures for personal data are provided for in detail in the Personal Information Handling Rules and other internal rules. The content thereof is mainly as follows.

    1.

    Establishment of the basic policy
    In order to ensure the proper handling of personal data, we establish the basic policy with regard to “compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, guidelines, etc.,” “matters related to security control measures,” “contact for inquiries and complaints” and other matters.

    2.

    Development of regulations for the handling of personal data
    We establish the Personal Information Handling Rules with regard to the method of handling, responsible persons and persons in charge, their duties and other matters for each stage such as acquisition, use, storage, provision, deletion and disposal, thereby developing regulations for the handling of personal data.

    3.

    Organizational security control measures
    • We appoint an administrator for the handling of personal data and develop an organizational framework to implement security control measures. We also clarify the employees who should handle the personal data, their roles and the scope of personal data to be handled by them, and we develop a system to report to the administrator on any fact or sign of a breach of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or the Personal Information Handling Rules.
    • We regularly perform self-inspections and audits by another department, etc. on the status of handling of personal data.

    4.

    Personnel security control measures
    • We regularly provide our employees with training on the matters to be noted for the handling of personal data.
    • The Rules of Employment provide for the matters related to the confidentiality of personal data.

    5.

    Physical security control measures
    • In the areas where personal data are handled, we control the employees’ entry to and exit from each area and implement measures to prevent unauthorized persons’ access, etc. to the personal data.
    • We manage the personal data to prevent any theft, loss, etc. of devices, electronic media, documents, etc. used for the handling of personal data. When carrying such devices, electronic media, etc., we implement measures to prevent any information leakage, etc.

    6.

    Technical security control measures
    • We limit the information systems and devices that are used to access the personal information database, etc. and also limit the employees who are allowed to use such information systems and devices.
    • We have introduced a system to protect the information systems and devices used to handle the personal data from unauthorized access by external parties or unauthorized software.

    7.

    Understanding the external environment
    • When handling the personal data in a foreign country, we ascertain the personal information protection system of that foreign country and other matters and implement necessary and appropriate measures to control the security of the personal data.

3. Purpose of use

The Company will use the Personal Information it acquires for the following purposes and will not use it for any other purpose unless the relevant person’s consent is obtained or such use is permitted under laws and ordinances.
We may individually give public notice on, or notify the relevant person of, other purposes of use in addition to the purposes specified in this basic policy.

To facilitate the operations of the above 1. Railway Business, 2. Real Estate Business and 3. Shopping Center Business, the Company may outsource part of the operations to Nankai Electric Railway Group companies, financial institutions to which monies are to be transferred, information processing companies, cooperative companies or other organizations. The Company may also share personal data with each company with which it shares information. In such cases, they will handle the Personal Information to the necessary extent as described below.

Items of personal data to be shared: Name, gender, date of birth, address, telephone number, workplace, family composition, housing status, email address, service use records, etc.
Scope of companies with which the Company shares information: Group companies that share Personal Information (as listed below)
Purposes of shared use: Making group-wide service improvements, providing general service information to you, conducting marketing activities, analyzing data and conducting statistical processing

• Analyzing customers’ service use records and Personal Information obtained through our services to develop and provide services and products tailored to their needs and preferences
• Using customers’ IC card data and other information to analyze their activity and develop, provide and improve products and services closely related to the Railway Business, Real Estate Business and Shopping Center Business
• Providing related products and services to users of events and services provided by the Company and companies with which it shares information, and responding to customer inquiries
• Providing other information related to events and services provided by the Company and companies with which it shares information
• Conducting business analysis and internal management of the Company and companies with which it shares information

When operations are outsourced, personal data may be processed for use to the extent necessary for statistical processing.

When providing anonymized Personal Information to a third party, the Company will ensure that the relevant persons cannot be identified and will comply with applicable laws and ordinances.
The Company will execute an agreement on the handling of Personal Information with outsourcing providers and companies with which it shares information and appropriately supervise them to ensure its protection.

4. Disclosure and provision to third parties

The Company will not disclose or provide Personal Information to any third party unless such disclosure or provision is specified in “3. Purpose of use” or falls under any of the following items:

    When the relevant person’s consent is obtained

    2.

    When the disclosure or provision is required under laws and ordinances

    3.

    When the disclosure or provision is necessary to protect the life, body or property of a person, and it is difficult to obtain the relevant person’s consent

    4.

    When the disclosure or provision is particularly necessary to improve public health or to promote the sound development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the relevant person’s consent

    5.

    When the Company is required to cooperate in the performance by government agencies or local public bodies or persons entrusted by them for their duties stipulated by laws and ordinances, and the acquisition of the relevant person’s consent may obstruct the performance of such duties

    6.

    When the third party receiving the Personal Information is an academic research institute, etc. and needs to handle the relevant personal data for academic research purposes (including cases where the purposes of use of the personal data include academic research and excluding cases where such use may unfairly infringe the rights and interests of an individual)

5. Disclosure

Following a request for the disclosure of Personal Information held by the Company, we will confirm that the person requesting the disclosure is the person in question or his/her agent and answer the request within a reasonable period and scope pursuant to laws and ordinances.

6. Correction, addition or deletion

Following a request for a correction, addition or deletion to Personal Information held by the Company, we will confirm that the person requesting the correction, addition or deletion is the relevant person or his/her agent and, if the information is incorrect, will make a correction, addition or deletion to the information within a reasonable period and scope pursuant to laws and ordinances.

7. Suspension of use or erasure

Following a request for suspension of use or erasure of Personal Information held by the Company, we will confirm that the person requesting the suspension of use or erasure is the relevant person or his/her agent and suspend the use of or erase the information within a reasonable period and scope pursuant to laws and ordinances.
Please note that after the suspension of use or erasure of the above information, etc. in whole or in part, we may have difficulty in providing the services you use.
We may be unable to meet your request for the suspension of use or erasure, if the information is being held by the Company pursuant to applicable laws and ordinances.

8. Receipt of requests for disclosure, etc. and contact for inquiries

We will receive requests for the disclosure, etc. of Personal Information held by the Company (under 5, 6 and 7 above) by the method specified below.
Please understand that we may be unable to meet your request if it is made by any method other than that specified below.

    To make a request for disclosure, etc., you are required to submit the request form prescribed by the Company. In this case, please inquire to the following contact by telephone.
    Following your inquiry, we will inform you of the detailed procedures for the receipt of a request. We will confirm that the person making the request is you or your agent by the method specified below and answer to the request by sending a document to your address (including when the request is made by your agent; however, if a request is made by your statutory agent, the document will be sent to the address of the statutory agent as shown on the statutory agent’s identity verification document).
    We will charge you a fee of 500 yen as actual expenses for a disclosure request.

    When you make a request, we will verify your identity by the following methods:

    1.

    Verification based on the Personal Information already managed by the Company such as name, address and telephone number

    2.

    Verification based on the individual number card, driver’s license, passport, basic resident register card, health insurance card, certificate of seal-impression and other evidential documents

    When your agent makes a request, we will call you by telephone or by other means to confirm that the person making the request is your agent by checking the power of attorney and the certificate of seal-impression affixed to the power of attorney.

9. Other matters

    1.

    Access logs
    The access logs collected by the Company on its website may be used in statistical analysis for the operation and management of servers or when an incident occurs. If any incident occurs, we may provide the access logs to the police and other public agencies pursuant to the Act on Prohibition of Unauthorized Computer Access and other security-related laws.

    2.

    Use of and registration with private credit bureaus
    The Company may exchange the Personal Information with private credit bureaus for the purpose of making appropriate credit decisions, etc. when providing services related to member registration.

    3.

    Cookies
    The Company uses cookies for some webpages in order to improve the services provided to customers and to distribute advertisements of the Company’s products.
    A “cookie” is a mechanism that stores the usage history and inputted data that are transmitted and received between your browser and a server when you use a website, excluding Personal Information. You may accept or refuse cookies in your browser settings.
    The Company may store and refer to “cookies” through a third party to which the Company outsources the distribution of advertisements.

    4.

    Acquisition of location information
    Smartphone applications, etc. provided by the Company (hereinafter referred to as “Applications, etc.”) collect the location information of users with the consent of users. If you do not want to provide your location information to Applications, etc., you may refuse to provide it. The location information of users acquired by the Company will be used for the following purposes:

    (1) Nankai App transmits its information by push notifications.
    (2) The Company participates in the Kansai Regional Flow Analysis Consortium that observes and analyzes the movement of people over a wide region by utilizing the data obtained from Wi-Fi/Bluetooth packet sensors for the purpose of solving social issues.
