Information of surrounding facilities

Osakasayamashi station opened in July 1917 (Taisho 6) at the time of Osaka Koya Railway. The original name of the station was 'Kawachi-Handa Station' named after area (Sayama-cho Handa), but it was later renamed 'Sayama-Yuen-mae Station'. It was popular as the nearest station to the park(Sayama-Yuen-mae) for many years, but due to the closing of the park in April 2000, the station name was changed to “Osaka-Sayamashi Station” in December of the same year as a result of referring the opinions of the community and the fact that it was the nearest station to the city hall. Sayamaike Pond, which is located on the west side of the station, has been popular as a scenic pond since ancient times, such as appearing in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and is still a symbol of the city.
