Information of surrounding facilities

Sayama station is the oldest station among the three stations on the Koya Line in Osaka Sayama City. In January 1898, when the Koya Railway opened between Oshoji Station (currently Sakaihigashi Station) and Sayama, the station was named after the village at that time. There was no station between these stations until Nishimura Station (now Hatsushiba Station) opened two months later. After that, Sayama Village was incorporated as a town in 1951 and as a city in 1987, becoming present-day Osaka Sayama City. About 500 meters east of the station, Renkoji Temple has a sasanqua tree that is estimated to be 400 years old and is designated as a prefectural natural monument.
