Information of surrounding facilities

Kimitoge station, which is often used by hikers as a starting point for climbing Mt. Iwawaki, opened in March 1915. Kimitoge Pass, from which the station is named, is located about 1.5 kilometers north of the station and is pierced by two railway tunnels. The Kimi Tunnel (1,561 meters) on the inbound line was finally completed in November 1914 after the Koya Tozan Railway took over the excavation work that the Koya Railway began excavating in 1900. The Shinkimi Tunnel (1,853 meters) on the outbound line began excavating in May 1973 along with the double-track construction between Kawachinagano and Hashimoto, which began in 1972. The station has started been used in April 1976.
