Information of surrounding facilities

Sumiyoshihigashi station opened in September 1900 (Meiji 33) at the time of the Koya Railway as the nearest station on the Koya Line, which is the back gate of Sumiyoshi Taisha. The station is double-tracked, supporting the smooth operation of the Koya Line. Heading towards Namba from the station, the Hankai Electric Tramway Uemachi Line, which connects the front of Tennoji Station and the front of Hamadera Station, intersects on the tracks, and there is Kannoki stop on the embankment. Sumiyoshi Taisha is about a 5-minute walk on the west side of the station. When you enter the precincts, there is a camphor tree that is over 1,000 years old and "Nankosha" behind the first main shrine. The shrine is called "Hatsutatsu-san" because the first dragon day of every month is an annual festival day, and it is crowded with people praying for prosperous business, family safety, and disaster prevention on the first day of the month.
