Information of surrounding facilities

Koyasan station is the gateway to the World Heritage Site Koyasan, which is visited by worshipers from all over the country throughout the four seasons. It opened in June 1930, when Koyasan Electric Railway was still operating, and in December 1964, with the 1150th anniversary of the founding of Koyasan, the two-car cable car connection operation started to increase transportation capacity. The platform is made of concrete stairs, and two hoisting machines with an output of 400 kilowatts installed in the basement of the station move the cable car up and down (operating speed is 3 meters per second). Located at an altitude of 867 meters, it is our representative sightseeing station that connects the station front and various places in Koyasan by bus.
