Information of surrounding facilities

In June 1928, when the Koyasan Electric Railway was in operation, the line was opened from Koyashita Station to this station. The name of the station at that time was the name of the area,"Kamiya". It is said that the area beyond the hill on the east side of the station prospered as "the post station closest to Koyasan" and is also known as the place where Japan's last revenge took place.

It is said that in February 1871, four Murakami brothers, samurai of the Banshu Ako clan, waited for seven members of the Nishikawa clan of the same clan, who had killed their father, Shinsuke, at the crossroads of Kamiya to achieve their true worth. It was an event two years before the ban on revenge was issued by the Grand Council of State proclamation.
