Information of surrounding facilities
Prior to the opening of Kansai International Airport in September 1994, it opened in June of the same year as a gateway to the Kinki region open to the world. It is directly connected to the airport's passenger terminal building and Aeroplaza via the deck on the concourse floor. The station building has an atrium structure with skylights, and functions as a landmark in the airport. A wide ticket gate has been introduced so that carts can be used inside the ticket gate, and escalators and elevators are connected to the platform, making it suitable for an international airport. In 2000, it was selected as a certified station in the 1st "100 Selections of Kinki Stations".
