Isonoura station opened in June 1912 when the Kada Light Railway opened. "Isonoura", which is the origin of the station name, is the coast at the western end of Nirigahama, and there is a song in the Manyoshu. In addition to being a popular beach during the summer season, it is also used throughout the four seasons for clam digging, seine netting, and surf fishing. It is also famous as the closest surfing point from Osaka, and surfers from all over Japan visit throughout the year.
