Information of surrounding facilities

Nirigahama station opened in June 1912 when the Kada Light Railway, the current Kada Line, opened. The origin of the station name is the beach name. It is said that this coast used to be about 8 kilometers from Kinokawa River to Isonoura, literally "niri (2 ri, a japanese amount of length)" beach. About 500 meters northwest of the station, Iyato Hachiman Shrine enshrines Emperor Ojin, Empress Jingu, and Yamato Takeru, and was relocated to its current location during the Keicho period. It is also said to be the god of safe childbirth because Empress Jingu was pregnant. At the bottom of the station is the Nishiwaki Fishing Port, where you can see people fishing on the breakwater early in the morning on holidays.
