Haginochaya station opened in December 1907. Hagi no Chaya, which is said to be the origin of the station's name, is one of the teahouses that used to be along the Kishu Highway. It is said that the japanese clover flowers planted on the site entertained the eyes of travelers on the way to Sumiyoshi pilgrimage from the Osaka area.
