About 4 years after the Tanagawa Line opened, Fukeko station opened in November 1948 with the opening of the Fukeko Port-Awaji/Shikoku connecting route. The station's name is derived from Fukeko Port, which is one of the 8 regional ports managed by Osaka Prefecture. The express "Awaji-go" connecting Awaji was in operation, but it was discontinued due to the timetable revision in April 1993.
