Information of surrounding facilities

Abikomae station opened in January 1907 to make access easier for visitors to Abiko Kannon, which is located about 1 km east of the station. Abiko-cho Station on the Hanwa Electric Railway (currently the JR Hanwa Line) and Abiko Station on the Midosuji Subway Line later opened, but at the time the station opened, this station was the nearest station, so it was named "Abiko-mae." Abiko Kannon is officially called "Abikoyama Daisho Kannonji" and is famous as Japan's oldest Kannon worship hall and temple for warding off evil. It is said that this temple was founded after Prince Shotoku received a message from Kannon Bodhisattva about 1,400 years ago when he visited here.
