Information of surrounding facilities
In March 1971, the extension work between Chikkocho (former Wakayamako) Station and Suiken Station was completed, and this station was opened in front of Wakayama Main Port, where ferries run. From November 1985, the 10000 series limited express vehicle "Southern" began operation in place of the former 1000 series Shikoku limited express "Shikoku". Since the section between Wakayamako Station and Suiken Station was closed in May 2002, it has become the terminus of the Wakayamako Line.
