Information of surrounding facilities

Sakaihigashi station is the eastern gateway to Sakai City, with the shopping district in front of the station on the west side and the government offices such as the city hall and courts diagonally opposite. It opened in January 1898 (Meiji 31) at the time of Koya Railway, and the Nankai Sakai Higashi Building, which includes the first and second floors of the station building, was completed in October 1964 (Showa 39). A bus terminal was built in front of the station, and it still plays a role as the transportation hub of the city. In 2000, elevators and escalators were installed on the upper and lower platforms, and a full-color LED (electric light) display was adopted for the destination information board for the first time at our station.
