Information of surrounding facilities

Nishi-Tengachaya station opened in September 1915, about five months after Koya Tozan Railway was renamed Osaka Koya Railway. About 300 meters northeast of the station, the Shikitsu Matsunomiya Nishinari Shrine is the travel lodge of the Shikitsu Matsunomiya Shrine (Naniwa Ward). It is said to have originated from the story that Jinko empress planted three pine trees on the beach to pray for safe navigation. The road that runs north-south on the east side of is the Old Katsuma Highway. During the Edo period, this road ran from Namba through Kizu and joined the Kishu Kaido (Sumiyoshi Kaido) at Kohama.
