Misakikoen station opened in July 1938. As the gateway to Misaki Park, an amusement park overlooking Osaka Bay that was open until 2020, it was especially crowded with families on weekends. This station originally opened as "Minamitannowa Station". In June 1944, it was relocated to its current location as a connecting station with the Tanagawa branch line at that time, and in January 1957, before the opening of Misaki Park (April of the same year), the current station name was adopted. The station building was renovated in 1990, adopting a yacht design that evokes the image of the sea, and by adopting navy blue and white exterior and heat-reflecting glass, it has an open appearance suitable for a holiday destination. In 2002, it was selected as a certified station in the 3rd "100 Selections of Kinki Stations".
