Information of surrounding facilities

Koyashita station opened in July 1925 in Shiide, which prospered as a post town for visitors to Koyasan. It was named 'Koyasan Station' because it was the closest station to Koyasan at the time, but it was later renamed to its current name. Shiide Itsukushima Shrine, located on the west side of the station, holds the heroic and humorous Oni no Mai, designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Wakayama Prefecture, every August. It prays for harvest, exorcism, rain, etc. The Tamagawa Gorge (part of the Nyu River) is dotted with numerous campsites along the valley, and has been designated as a scenic spot by the prefecture.
