The inbound line was completed in May 1992, and the outbound line was completed two years later in July. The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival, which boasts about 300 years of history and tradition, is said to have originated from the Inari Festival held by the lord of the Kishiwada domain, Nagayasu Oka, to pray for a bountiful harvest.
