Cars, seats, and facilities
  • Is Wi-Fi available on board?
    Yes, free Wi-Fi (Osaka Free Wi-Fi) is available on board. There may be areas along the route where it may be difficult to connect to the Wi-Fi depending on network conditions.
  • Is there a restroom on the train?
    Restrooms are available in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and in Lobby Lounge (Car 3). One universal, gender-free restroom and one men's restroom can be found in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1). One gender-free restroom and one women's restroom can be found in Lobby Lounge (Car 3).
  • Are there announcements or tourist information provided on board?
    Announcements will be provided about sights along the route and scenery from the train windows.
  • Is there a smoking area?
    Smoking is prohibited in all stations and on all trains. There are no designated smoking areas in stations or on board. We also ask that passengers refrain from using heated tobacco products and electronic cigarettes out of consideration for other passengers and to avoid inconveniencing fellow passengers.
  • Can I purchase souvenir and retail items on board the train?
    Passengers can purchase original goods, light refreshments, and drinks in the Lobby Lounge (Car 3).
  • Are commemorative boarding passes available on board?
    Yes, commemorative boarding passes are available. Your commemorative boarding pass can be stamped with a commemorative stamp.
Food and drinks
  • What types of food and drinks are for sale on board?
    You can purchase light refreshments, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and souvenirs in the Lobby Lounge (Car 3). For more details, please see the "SERVICE" page. You can pay in cash, by credit card, and with a QR code.
  • When are food and drinks sold in the Lobby Lounge (Car 3)?
    Operating hours vary depending on the train. Opening and closing times for sales will be announced on board, so please check during your journey.
Reservations and ticket purchases
  • Are tickets sold at stations?
    Tickets are not sold at stations. You can purchase tickets through GRAN TENKU’s dedicated website or by booking a travel plan through a travel agency. Additionally, Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and Scenic View Seat (Car 2) reservations for same-day service can only be made at Namba Station’s 2F Service Center, Gokurakubashi Station, and Koyasan Station. After you have completed the reservation process, please pay the limited express surcharge on board the train. There are no additional charges for purchases made on board the train.
  • When can I purchase tickets?
    Tickets go on sale at midnight, 30 days prior to your travel date (including the day of travel). Please note that if you wish to purchase two Grand Seats (Car 4), tickets go on sale at midnight, 40 days prior to your travel date. Tickets will no longer be available once all seats are booked.
  • What does the ticket price include?
    Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and Scenic View Seat (Car 2) fares include only the limited express fee. Grand Seat and Grand Seat Plus (Car 4) includes the regular fare, limited express fee, Grand Seat tickets, meals, and more. For details, please see the "SCHEDULE/PRICE" page.
  • Are seats reserved? Can I choose where I want to sit?
    All seats are reserved. You can choose your seating preference when you purchase your ticket.
Operating schedule
  • What happens to the service in the event of bad weather or a disaster?
    Service may be canceled or delayed depending on weather or other conditions. Please check the Nankai Electric Railway website and other channels for the latest information on services. Services may also be suspended if operations are significantly impacted by natural disasters, accidents, or infectious disease outbreaks. In such situations, we will refund the ticket price partially or in full.
Traveling with children
  • Can I bring a stroller on board?
    Yes. Please fold up your stroller before boarding.
  • Is there a nursing room on board?
    There are no nursing rooms on board.
  • Can pre-school age children who do not require a seat ride the train?
    Up to two pre-school children may travel with each adult or child ticket holder. Children who sit on an adult's lap can travel free of charge.
Accessibility support
  • What support is available for people with disabilities?
    Our staff will provide assistance where possible, including support with boarding and disembarking. If you have any specific needs, please notify us in advance.

  • Is there a waiting area?
    There is no dedicated waiting area.
  • Are pets allowed on board?
    Pets are not allowed on board. However, assistance dogs (guide dogs, service dogs, and hearing dogs) are permitted on board.
  • Can I take photos inside and outside the train?
    Yes, you may take photos inside and outside the train. Please be considerate and avoid inconveniencing fellow passengers. Please do not use flash photography, tripods, or selfie sticks, and avoid blocking the aisles while taking photos.

    All seats on GRAN TENKU are reserved. There are no non-reserved seats.
  • Can I choose my own seat?
    Yes, you can choose your own seat. Please select your preferred seat from the list of available seats when purchasing your ticket.
  • Can I book the train for a private charter?
    No, it is not possible to book the train for a private charter.
  • Is there a possibility that I might be seated with other passengers?
    You may be seated with other passengers if you reserve a Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) or Scenic View Seat (Car 2), depending on the number of people and crowd levels.
  • Is the train accessible for wheelchair users?
    A wheelchair space is available in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1). Please speak to a station attendant when boarding the train. Please note that there may be restrictions on wheelchair size and dimensions, so we recommend contacting us in advance.
  • How do I use the priority seating for wheelchair users?
    Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) is equipped with priority seating for wheelchair users. We ask other guests to be considerate. However, if all other seats are occupied, other guests may also use the priority seating for wheelchair users.
  • Do I need to contact you if I will be boarding the train in a wheelchair?
    Passengers using wheelchairs should speak to a station attendant before boarding.
  • Can I bring suitcases or large bags on board?
    Please use the overhead luggage racks (in Car 1) and the space around your seat. Luggage space is available, but it is limited. Please take care of your own belongings.
  • Are there power outlets on board?
    Each seat in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) is equipped with one power outlet. Each table in Scenic View Seat (Car 2) is equipped with two power outlets. You can use these outlets to charge mobile phones and other devices. Please bring your own cables.

    Yes, you can bring food and drinks on board when traveling in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and Scenic View Seat (Car 2).

  • How can I purchase tickets?
    You can purchase tickets from GRAN TENKU's official booking site.
  • Can I board the train if I don’t purchase a ticket in advance?
    If seats are available in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) or Scenic View Seat (Car 2), you can purchase limited express tickets on board. Please note, however, that you will be charged an additional fee of 300 yen per ticket if you purchase tickets on board. You can also make same-day reservations at Namba Station's 2F Service Center, Gokurakubashi Station, and Koyasan Station. After you have completed the reservation process, please pay the limited express surcharge on board the train. If you make a reservation in advance, there are no additional charges for purchases made on board the train.
  • When can I purchase tickets? How many days in advance can I purchase tickets?
    Tickets can be purchased from midnight, 30 days before your travel date (including the day of travel), until three minutes before the specific train departs from the station.
  • Can I travel as a single passenger?
    Yes, you can travel solo.
  • Is it possible to reserve seats together for a group?
    Depending on availability, we may not be able to accommodate your request. We recommend purchasing tickets well in advance.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    Credit card is the only accepted method of payment on the GRAN TENKU designated website.
  • Does the ticket include the regular rail fare?
    Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and Scenic View Seat (Car 2) include the limited express ticket only. You must purchase a separate train ticket to your destination.
  • What should I do if I don’t receive an email after purchasing the ticket or when my limited express train ticket is sent?

Changes and cancellations
  • I would like to change the date of travel, plan, or number of people. How can I do that?
    If you wish to change your travel date, train, or seat, you can change that yourself up to two times via the e-ticket information on My Page, as long as there are available seats on the train you wish to change to. However, since the plan cannot be changed, if you wish to change from Car 1 to Car 2, or from Car 1 or 2 to Car 4, you will need to cancel your current ticket and purchase a new one.   • I would like to change the number of people traveling. How can I do that?
    You cannot change the number of people after purchasing your ticket.
    If you wish to add people to your reservation, please purchase additional tickets separately.
    If you need to reduce the number of passengers, please cancel your existing booking and make a new reservation.

Operating schedule
  • Can I get on or off the train at stations along the route?
    You can get on and off at stations where the train stops. However, limited express tickets are not available for travel between Namba, Shin’Imamiya, and Tengachaya stations. For details, please see the “SCHEDULE/PRICE” page.

  • Are Grand Seat and Grand Seat Plus (Car 4) open to all passengers?
    Grand Seat and Grand Seat Plus (Car 4) is an exclusive space designed for passengers to create special moments with loved ones, so entry is restricted to ticketed passengers only. We kindly ask that passengers in Rest & Relax Seat (Car 1) and Scenic View Seat (Car 2) refrain from visiting or taking photos in Car 4. Thank you for your understanding.

    Passengers are requested to refrain from bringing outside food or beverages into Grand Seat and Grand Seat Plus (Car 4). We invite you to relax and enjoy the menu especially prepared for your journey on board GRAN TENKU.
  • I have food allergies. Can you accommodate my needs?
    We are unable to offer personalized dietary accommodations, including the removal of allergens from dishes. While outside food and drinks are generally not permitted on board, passengers who need to bring their own items due to allergies or other dietary requirements are kindly asked to notify the attendant staff on the day of travel.
  • Do you offer special menus catering to religious or personal dietary preferences, such as halal or vegetarian options?
    We do not have specialized menus and are unfortunately unable to cater to such requests. All passengers are served the same meals.
  • Can I take leftover food home?
    Due to food safety management requirements, we ask that passengers refrain from taking food served on board away with them.
  • Is a children’s menu available?
    No, we do not offer a children’s menu. The menu is the same for all passengers.

  • Is it possible to reserve seats together for a group?
    Depending on availability, we may not be able to accommodate your request. We recommend purchasing tickets well in advance.

    We offer a plan that includes one complimentary drink.
