Okadaura station opened in November 1915, one month after the opening of Yoshiminosato Station. It is said that the old coast, "Okadaura", from which the station's name is derived, was once an important point for marine traffic to Shikoku. Today, Marble Beach, an artificial beach made of marble, stretches along the coastline of Rinku Town. ``Okadaura Fishing Port'' was designated as a Type 1 fishing port in 1951, and nearly 300 tons of seafood such as conger eels are landed annually. About 500 meters southeast of the station, Rige Shrine is also called "Okada no Ebisu-san."
