Information of surrounding facilities

Tengachaya station opened in December 1885 (Meiji 18). This station was the first stop after leaving Namba. The name of the station is derived from the name of the place, and it is said that long ago, Toyotomi Hideyoshi stopped by this place on his way to and from Sakai to enjoy a tea ceremony, so it came to be called 'Tenga-chaya' (There is "Tengachaya Ruins" on the west side of Tenjinnomori Station on the Hankai line). In October 1900, the Tennoji branch line opened and this station became the starting point, but the branch line was abolished in April 1993, the month after the extension section of the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji line opened.
