Izumiotsu station opened as ``Otsu'' station in October 1897, when the section between Sakai Station and Sano (current Izumisano) Station opened. In April 1942, the name was changed to "Izumiotsu" with the implementation of the municipal organization. The shopping center "Izumiotsu CITY" on the east side of the station opened in September 1994 in the complex city facility "Alza Izumiotsu". Stores such as fashion, miscellaneous goods, and restaurants are in the facility. If you go further east, you will find the Ori-Amu kan Museum, which introduces the history and techniques of blankets, as well as displays of textiles and folk costumes from around the world.
