Ticket information

Child fares

Child fares are half the price of adult fares (not including limited-express tickets and reserved-seating tickets). However, if the amount must be rounded off, it will rounded upward to the next 10-yen unit. (For example, in the case of an adult fare of 150 yen, the child’s fare becomes 80 yen.)

Determining adults and children

Adult Aged 12 and older.
(Although elementary school students aged 12 still qualify as children).
Child Aged 6 to 11.
(Although children who are aged 6 but not yet enrolled in elementary school qualify as infants.)
Infant Aged 1 to 5
Baby Aged younger than 1

Fares for infants and babies

Although infants and babies can ride for free, in the following cases they would need to pay child fares:

  1. If infants ride alone
  2. In groups headed by a single adult or child, if they are the third-youngest in the "infant" age range.
  3. If a child in the "infant" or "baby" age range uses a reserved seat entirely for themselves.
  4. If children in the "infant" age range are riding as group travelers. Or if they are being accompanied by group travelers.

Where to buy limited-express tickets

Other than train station counters, tickets can be purchased at travel agencies, including offices of Nankai Travel International, JTB and Kinki Nippon Tourist. Please visit a travel agency branch office near you.
