- The mysterious realm of Koyasan - do you know about it?
- From time immemorial, the Kiisanchi mountain range is said to be profound place, where the gods are at peace.
A basin, a marvel of nature, is situated in the center of a series of mountain ridges that evoke images of lotus pedals.
Koyasan was established in 816 when the mastermind Kukai decided to situate a dojo for Shingon study in the area, a harsh natural environment far from the capital.
The foundation of the esoteric Buddhism conveyed by Kukai was a spirit that loves everything in the universe and is within a spirit that seeks truth.
For 1,200 years, Koyasan has steadily continued down this path. To this day, many people visit this sacred Shingon site.

- "Kukai: Creator of a Universe Inhabited by the Gods"
- Kukai traveled to Changan, the Tang Dynasty capital, 1,200 years ago. He learned the teachings of Buddha there, and in a mere six months he became a renowned master of civil engineering, medicine, geology and astronomy before returning home.
Intelligence and technique to search the spot, where energy from the earth – the spirit of the earth – would spring forth: that's what's Kukai had obtained. Throughout Japan, a large number of springs and wells, including the Ryujin Onsen, known as one of Japan's three hot springs of beauties, were developed. The place chosen by Kukai as a power spot was Koyasan, being the cleanest and harboring the most power in all of Japan.
In spring, the area sees the blooming of mountain cherries and rhododendrons. In summer the hydrangeas appear in all their clarity. Autumn is a swirl of rusty hues. In winter, the snow adorns the temple buildings.
Now you can experience the joy of using your own five sense to enjoy the four seasons of Koyasan, the ethereal capital loved by the gods.
